Ironically, the girl they dumped because of the age fiasco looks a LOT closer to 14 years old than her replacement (IMO).

Would have made more sense to hire her in the first place due to the likeness.

From DSCoronation Street star Katy Cavanagh has decided to leave the show after seven years in the role of Julie Carp. The actress has chosen not to renew her current contract with the ITV soap but will remain on screen until late spring. Julie's exit storyline will see her decide to move away from Weatherfield after her relationship with Dev Alahan (Jimmi Harkishin) runs into trouble. She joined the show in 2008 I'm a bit sad at this. I hate it when decent characters go and the replacement ends up being another 'Jr'

I like Julie, and loved her and Brian together. I`m sad to see her leave because she seemed to fit right into her role. There are many others who i`d like to see leave before Julie.

What a shame. Maybe she'll come back after a few years - after a couple of reality tv disasters, maybe?

From DSCoronation Street star Amy Kelly has quit the show after a year in the role of Maddie Heath. The actress chose not to renew her current deal with the ITV soap, but will remain part of the cast until the summer. Announcing her choice to bow out, Kelly commented: "I made the decision to leave because I'm young and adventurous and I want to gain more experience and explore and improve my craft. Acting is my passion and I'm excited to see where it takes me. "I've had the most amazing 18 months and I'll be sad to leave my Corrie family. It's been like a second home, but like all young people, you eventually fly the nest. I can't thank everyone enough who made this, not only possible, but fantastic." Maddie arrived on screen in December 2013 as a new love interest for Sophie Webster. Although her early storylines revolved around her troubled background and bad behaviour, viewers have also seen a softer side to the feisty character in recent months. What a shame, another good character going

Looks like Claire King ( Erica Holroyd ) is on her way back...Friday 6th March. Good. I liked her bubbly character. We need more fun in what has become a very dismal Corrie.

From DSCoronation Street star Hayley Tamaddon is leaving the show. The actress's character Andrea Beckett will bow out from Weatherfield in September, as part of a big plot airing in the soap's upcoming live episode. Further details are being kept top secret, but Andrea will not be killed off and the door will be left open for her to return in the future. Can't say I'm bothered really. I doubt she'll be back.

From DSCoronation Street bosses have confirmed that X Factor winner Shayne Ward is joining the soap's cast as a new regular. The actor and singer will play the role of Aidan Connor, a distant cousin of established character Michelle (Kym Marsh). Ward has signed a one-year contract with Coronation Street and show producers have big plans for his character, as they will also be introducing Aidan's father and sister in the coming months. He could also double up as the pub singer

Susie Blake will be back as Bev for Deirdre's funeral. Could be good. Bev's daughter Shelley left Wetherfield heavy with Charlie Stubbs's child, a fact which soon after contributed to his being clubbed to death by Toxic Tracy. Let's hope nobody brings this up at the funeral. If Ann Kirkbride had left the show of her own accord, this could have been a good piece of drama, but since she passed away tragically - let's hope they keep the whole thing dignified.

From DSCoronation Street's Terence Maynard is leaving the show in his role as Tony Stewart, Digital Spy can confirm. The actor only joined Weatherfield as Jason's father Tony last year, and was reportedly seen filming final scenes this week. iIt is not yet clear what Terence's exit story will be, though it may involve the fallout from Callum's death, who was killed by Kylie Platt in last month's live episode. However, he may exit for another reason. Yet another one leaving the cobbles. There will be on-one left soon.
