From DS
Jim McDonald will return to Coronation Street in March for a new storyline involving ex-wife Liz, it has been revealed.
The Weatherfield favourite was last seen on screen before Christmas, when a plot twist saw him savagely beaten - an attack that appeared to have been arranged by Liz's new boyfriend Owen Armstrong (Ian Puleston-Davies).
Inside Soap reports that Jim - played by Charles Lawson - will reappear on screen on March 24 and make a "shocking suggestion" to Liz (Beverley Callard).
Meanwhile, Liz is expected to return home from Spain a week earlier - turning up at The Rovers on March 14. It is thought that she will be shocked by events which have taken place in her absence - including Tracy Barlow's new position as a barmaid at the pub.
Jim's latest Weatherfield stint is likely to tie in with Liz's exit storyline as Beverley Callard will soon bow out of the role.
Discussing Liz's departure plot in a recent interview, Callard commented: "It's a fantastic exit and it's absolutely massive, but Liz may not be leaving on her own!"
Lawson has played the role of Jim on and off since 1989.
I'd like to see he and Liz re-united. It would be a nice way to write her out

No wonder she is shocked at all the changes at the Rovers..she will have been gone for nearly 4 months

Oh no! I hate Jim - a character with no redeeming features whatsoever. Unless Liz's exit involves a murder/suicide pact between the two of them I don't want to know. And to top it all he's got the cheek to come back on 24 March, which is my birthday And I can't believe that Liz won't have heard of most of everything that's gone on - they've got phones and internet in Spain. Steve and Becky MUST have told her about the tram disaster, at least - people she'd known for years were killed. And she would have asked to say hello to Amy at some stage during her absence, especially on Christmas Day - and would have been told about Tracy's return.

I met Bruno yesterday at Calendar Girls in Bristol (he is currently playing the photographer), he was nice. I asked about his return to Corrie, he said its only for a few eps and will be set in London. Sounds like Eileen goes to visit him.

That`s a shame Bruno is only returning for a few episodes. Hopefully it will lead to a more permanent role in the future for him. I`m glad Bruno is finding work though. He`s a good actor and I wish him every success. Thanks for letting us know Jez - you are our 'roving reporter' ;D

LOL! Its often best to find out the news from the actors themselves as I dont always trust the press.
I guess Bruno is taking the work at Corrie as his CG tour ends in April and he might not have anything else lined up.
According to Wiki - not the most reliable source - Liz returns in March and then leaves for good in the Summer. Corrie seem to be bringing back a lot of past character - Marcus, Jim, Trevor (albeit temporary), Tommy Duckworth (recast), Dennis, Todd.

I can't really see the point of bringing Tommy Duckworth back..he doesn't have any ties in the street does he?

The only one left was Jack, it does seem a bit pointless him returning.....unless he's after something.!

Ditto Dennis Tanner in a way. The likes of Ken and Emily could've moved or be dead.

Jim McDonald also has a prison record for killing Jez Quigly, so he can`t hold a licence to the Rovers either. So the only McDonald who can hold the licence is Andy.
