From DS
Coronation Street's Nikki Patel is leaving the soap, it has been confirmed.
The actress has already filmed her final scenes as Amber Kalirai, who will exit Weatherfield next month.
Amber was most recently involved in a lesbian love triangle with Sophie Webster (Brooke Vincent) and Sian Powers (Sacha Parkinson).
"Nikki's part in the love triangle was a huge success, but the producers feel that the character has run her course. Nikki is a professional and she understands, although of course she is disappointed," a source told The People.
Amber will leave the Street after a series of rows with stepmum Sunita Alahan (Shobna Gulati).
A Coronation Street spokesperson added: "Nikki will be leaving us at the end of her contract, but viewers may see Amber again."
That'd be right, ruin her character and then rid of her.!!

Isn't that always the way? They used to slowly burn, now they burn them out within months and can't think of anything else for them to do.

Stevie Wonder could`ve seen this coming. I can`t say I`ll be sorry to see her go. And it`s a shame because she had the potential to be a great character.

When Amber was in it originally she was sparky, witty and inteligent,...I don't know what she is like now because I haven't seen it..but it doesn't sound good

Changed her to a rampant bi-sexual apparently who slept with Sawfie Webster.

I do wish these actors would take on board that when they move to a soap at the other end of the country to where they live, upheaval and travel will be involved. I'm sick to death of reading they are leaving because of the travel, home life, (and from one who was in Emmerdale...the cold weather) etc.

If it`s true that Michelle Collins is leaving..it ticks me off. It was my biggest concern that Michelle Collins would get bored and leave in a year or two after her character had been built up. The Corrie PTB should have chosen Lisa Maxwell instead - she`s less likely to bolt in a few years. The Stella character has the potential of being an iconic character - nowhere legend status like Annie Walker or Bet Gilroy - but important to Corries history nevertheless. Even if it`s not true that Michelle is leaving, it still disappoints me that it`s possible she could in a year or two. And with Stella`s Mum appearing soon, a lot of work and money has already been poured into the Stella character.

I think the problem too is many of these characters are easily forgotten because there's just so many of them now. Whereas in the old days there were less, they had more to do EQUALLY and were memorable.

Sue Johnston illness prompts Corrie rewrites
Street writers have been forced to change scripts after Sue Johnston was taken ill.
The Royle Family star joined the ITV1 soap last month as Stella Price's mother Gloria.
However, the actress became sick two weeks ago just days after she started filming scenes. She was unable to work, prompting rewrites, according to the Sunday Mirror.
"It would be a lie to say this hasn't caused a real problem. A significant amount of time was going to be dedicated to her introductory scenes," a source said.
"We had to completely change the filming schedule. And scenes that had been written had to be changed to allow for her absence."
Johnston's character will shock daughter Stella (Michelle Collins) by turning up out of the blue after years running a bar in Spain.
