Today's Latest From DS
Coronation Street star Michael Le Vell has reportedly split from his wife of 25 years.
The actor, who plays Kevin Webster in the ITV1 soap, parted with Janette Beverley a few months ago - before he was accused of sexually abusing a schoolgirl.
"It's very sad, but they are estranged and have been for a while. This police investigation comes on top of everything else. It's been the worst time of Michael's life,"
"It's been a terribly stressful time for both of them. Michael has always been brilliant as a husband and dad and has never courted the celebrity lifestyle. The fact that his marriage is on the rocks has come as a complete shock.
"Right now his mind is all over the place. He has co-operated fully with the police and will continue to do so until his innocence is proved. It's been the worst time of his life - but everything is out of his hands at the moment."

I really feel for Michael..this must be every mans nightmare....I mean if she is telling the truth how does she prove it,likewise if he is telling the truth how does he prove it..it's her word against his..so all you have to rely on ,if it goes to trail,is a jury and I don't see how Michael can get a fair and unbiased trial..there are quite a lot of people who think that celebrities need bringing down a peg or two as well as the fact that people think there's no smoke without fire.....you know the old saying 'If you throw enough sh*t some of it will stick'
And now his marriage is on the rocks......

Oh dear. The media and public will say it must be true since she'd stand by him otherwise. He will be crucified. Trial by media.

The latest on this:
Coronation Street actor Michael Le Vell has been cleared of allegations that he sexually abused a schoolgirl, according to reports.
The star, who has played Kevin Webster in the soap since 1983, was arrested in September after police received a report of a historical offence. He has always denied the claims.
Le Vell, 47, was last night (December 31) told by police that he will face no charges following the three-month investigation, The People reports. Prosecutors did not find enough evidence to move ahead with the case.
A police spokesman said: "No further action will be taken against a 47-year-old man arrested on suspicion of a historic rape. A file was prepared for the CPS (Crown Prosecution Service) who decided there was insufficient evidence to charge."
Good. I never believed he did it anyway.

Mud sticks and people will still believe he did it, saying just because there wasn't enough evidence, doesn't mean he didn't.
It's high time anonymity was brought in for men.

Good for Michael...I wonder if the woman accusing him will be charged with wasting police time?

The Sun couldn`t wait to get this news on their front page. A few days ago on the Drudge website I heard about more arrests from the NOTW hacking scandal from a year or so ago. Could this latest arrest be related in any way?

Well it IS news to be fair, especially after they dropped the charges before. They've changed their minds. Must be something to do with the Jimmy Savile thing.

Not sure how far ahead Corrie is with filming (6 weeks?), but just heard that he's been suspended pending the outcome of the investigations.

Makes me wonder about Peter Adamson. He was cleared but there were always some people who believed he was guilty.

It's odd they decided there wasn't enough evidence before but now there's stacks.

Exactly!!!! Michael is still protesting his innocence. No word from Granada yet, other that he`s been suspended. It doesn`t look good for him either way.

It says they are charging him with 19 crimes so maybe more people have come forward and accused him. Maybe it's 19 different people, maybe it's 19 offences against the same child; maybe the first investigation didn't yield enough evidence, but subsequent accusers/witnesses have now come forward, so the police have re-opened the case. Who knows? All we can do is speculate - and we have precisely NO information to go on. All I know is that I would hate to be a juror on that case.
There is absolutely NO chance of him getting 'a fair trial' whether he is guilty or not. Because he is famous he's been named as the accused, which is wrong. If the evidence against him turns out to be enough to convict him - then, good: punish him good and proper, but I still don't agree that he has been subjected to media speculation before the trial.
There is apparently so much evidence that Jimmy Saville abused young girls, that now nobody is defending him any more; even his family and die-hard fans have backed down and said 'OK. we were wrong - he was obviously guilty as charged'.
If the cops currently hold similar information about Michael Le Vell then he is sunk, and rightly so. If there's no new information, but the original complainants are still demanding action, encouraged by the success of Jimmy Saville's victims to be believed - then it will be a hellish affair for all concerned, not least of all the jury.

BBC News said it's all related to the same girl as before.
This is why anonymity needs to be brought in until someone is convicted.
This is why I started to think about Peter Adamson again. In those days they dismissed it so there must have been something for the police to take it seriously.

With Michael being a household name , it`s going to be very difficult to find an impartial jury.

Even if he`s found not guilty, Kevin could possibly be 'Scott Windsored' out of Corrie. I hope TPTB won`t kill off Kevin in the Rovers fire, and then claim it was their intention all along to write out Kevin.

I would imagine all the scenes have been recorded for the Rovers Fire MK II
