Agreed 100% Seems like the girl involved wants her 15 minutes of fame, and probably her parents are encouraging it for money.

They shouldn't be allowed to publish stories like this unless he's actually been charged with something. I hope it isn't true, and whether it is or it isn't - they should only be allowed to report on the court case, and nothing else. Trial by media is damaging - not only for the reputations of the people involved, but it's difficult for a jury not to be prejudiced if they think they've heard all the 'facts' in the press months before the trial. And if he isn't charged with anything - nobody should have heard of any of this.

Flinging dirt whether guilty or not - it will still stick. The Sun newspaper should be ashamed of themselves for this. If it comes out that Michael is not guilty, then the girl who accused Michael should be named and shamed. If Michael was out on the town every week getting drunk and up to all sorts on a regular basis, then it makes the news. But Michael is a private man off screen. And also a family man who does a lot for charity. Craig Charles was arrested for something similar as I recall. Thankfully his career wasn`t ruined over it. I hope Michael is treated the same way as Craig by the Granada bosses. In the case of that bloke from Emmerdale (name escapes me something Freeman?) who was acquitted of rape and still lost his job, I hope cooler heads will prevail for Michael.

And this ruddy goverment SHOULD have overturned Labour's law of no anonymity for the accused, especially after the landlord of Jo Yeates was crucified by the Scum and others when he was only being questioned. Their lives are ruined while accusers can stay in the shadows and do it again.

Yeah Pats Haven`t the Sun learned anything from the NOTW scandal? They jump in with both feet. Michael should get his phone checked out to see if it`s been hacked.

Flinging dirt whether guilty or not - it will still stick. Unfortunately there will still be people who will believe this. It's time there was a law to protect the person accused like the accuser is. School teachers seem to be fair game for these evil accusers....even poor Louis Walsh had to suffer something similar.

Hmm, but he bit the hand which supported him by giving an interview to the Scum slagging off his colleagues.

I remember Peter Adamson going on a morning breakfast show dressed in black like a funeral director after he was fired. A rather pathetic attempt of humour I thought to myself. Six year old little girls have a limited memory. And saying that....why didn`t she report it 10 years ago? Even at 6 she`d have some sense of right or wrong.

I notice that it`s not on the front page anymore. I bet Michael got his lawyers to threaten legal action if they dared print anymore 'sensational' stuff about him. I hope he sues for deformation of character and hope he gets enough to pay for his lawyers. Although I doubt if Michael will get an apology.

Six year old little girls have a limited memory. And saying that....why didn`t she report it 10 years ago? Even at 6 she`d have some sense of right or wrong. People of all ages are sexually assaulted in all different kinds of situations. Lots of them are too terrified or traumatised to report the assault at all, let alone straight away. How the hell is a six year old supposed to cope with something like that? The sad fact is that six year olds ARE sexually abused in this nasty world - often by trusted family members or family friends, and the poor kids never tell. Reporting that Michael is a 'family man' means nothing - it certainly doesn't make him innocent. Even if it turns out the cops can't supply any proof or evidence or witnesses - that doesn't make him innocent either. The only thing that makes him innocent IMO - for the time being is that he hasn't been found guilty in a court of law. If and when that happens I hope they string him up - but for now I feel sorry for him and his family because of this negative publicity. The only reason this has been reported in the press is because he's famous - a nobody would only have been named after the trial; it's not right that a man is named before being charged just because he's a household name. Garry Glitter was shagging little girls at the height of his fame and got away with it - he wasn't exposed until years later. I bet most of his fans refused to believe it at first - then had to back down when it was beyond a doubt.

Gary Glitter was found out when he took his computer in to be repaired as I recall.
And I agree with you PQ. It`s going to be virtually impossible to prove or deny Michaels guilt because of lack of forensic evidence 10 years later. With his trial date in November, it`s going to be a media circus. I remember how it was for Jade Goody`s hubby (name escapes me) when he was on trial for rape. The lawyers on both sides are going to find it difficult to find an impartial jury though.

People also lie. When I was 20, the police arrived at my door. My dad had been arrested, charged with sexually abusing ME, and dragged from his work (he was a police officer). The police were actually really nasty, even having a go at the type of nighties I wore and the fact I was still wearing one when they turned up. I was relaxing before getting ready for work FFS! Some sick bastard made up all these lies and when I heard what he was meant to have done to me, I knew EXACTLY who did it. My dad was told none of that. It was a bloody good job I was still a virgin then because if I hadn't been, he'd have been hung, drawn and bloody quartered. But it was a complete violation of me and that doctor who had to examine me was enjoying himself far too much. I ended up having a breakdown and it took a hell of a long time to get over. The two little issues of me being 4 years over the age of consent and hadn't reported it myself should have led to it not being looked into. They never even apologised. The trouble with the police as I found was they're only interested in meeting targets. They're so gung ho when it comes to crucifying innocent people on one spiteful person's say so they don't actually consider ALL the evidence before wrecking lives.
It's obvious this girl is known to Michael otherwise they wouldn't be pursuing it, a celebrity feather in their cap. But having been through it I'm completely on his side until proven wrong.

That's terrible Patsy. They didn't even question you before they arrested your dad? They just took someone else's word for it? As an adult, and especially one who hadn't made any complaint - they shouldn't have been able to force you to be examined by a doctor. And even so - how come you couldn't have requested a female doctor? What about the person who lied to the police - were they ever charged or punished?

No. The bastard got away with it. My 21st was 6 weeks later so no coincidence. The lies they made up made me sick to my stomach and I've hated Halloween ever since. So when I say I haven't worked for over 20 years on FB, you know why. It's not something I broadcast because it's still painful to think about all these years later. The only good thing is my dad's colleagues didn't know why he'd been arrested.
Pearly, no. Just knocked on the door and announced on the doorstep my dad had been arrested for abusing me. I was willing to be examined because he hadn't touched me but even though I kept saying so, in the interview I was asked if I'd undergo one! They just do not listen. We all know how easy it can be for the hymen to break. I don't know whether you can request a female doctor. I was taken to the rape suite in Southampton and got whoever was available.

Good god, that's disgusting. Let's hope they're more sensitive these days, for everyone's sake.
What a screwed up world we live in: nonces and rapists walk around free, and innocent people are accused of terrible crimes when nothing happened.

It is but I doubt it. After all, someone leaked Michael LeVell's name to the press while they're still evidence gathering. If it's her word against his they need 100% concrete proof unless he confesses but it won't stop them trying to convict him on her word alone. After all, she's female so thanks to the inEquality Act brought in by Harridan Harperson, all men are guilty. That sort of thing MUST stop. Trial by media yet again. A girl at school was abused by her step-father but he waited until she was 16 so if accused, could claim consent.
Constantly over the past few years we are reading about women falsely accusing men of rape, sexual assault, abuse and usually to cover up something they are actually guilty of doing. The idiotic PC lawyers and police believe them over everything and stop at nothing to get that conviction. Meanwhile all these men's names are splashed all over the papers, lives ruined, while in 99.9% of cases, the accusers still keep their anonymity. It's not right.

The strange thing about this case is that Michael was brought in for questioning the end of September. Yet it wasn`t made front news until a week later. I`d like to know who leaked the story..... someone in the girls family or friend perhaps? Maybe even someone from the Sun newspaper.

I`d like to know who leaked the story..... someone in the girls family or friend perhaps? Maybe even someone from the Sun newspaper. Maybe someone from Corrie? A disgruntled employee who has to reschedule working rosters around his absence. People will want to know why he's not there - is he sick? Is he on holiday? Has he got a family crisis? I suppose the latter is true - but there was no need for the country to know about the 'scandal' before all the truths are known. He could have been taking extended leave for 'personal reasons', but now everyone knows why.

Totally agree, Pearly. All the more reason to give the accused anonymity. Teresa May is a moron.
