Its true that isnt a lot going on in Corrie at the moment but at least in tonights episode we had a break from Michelle! Why they had to bring John Stape back I dont know - run out of ideas? I dont know who Kevin hates most - Tony or John! Its amusing when Kevin goes off on one. Quite a run of the mill episode tonight really, Aunty Pam is continuing to be annoying. Never thought id say this but am prefering Emmerdale at the moment

LOL! Are we supposed to believe David got that tan in wet Weatherfield, or on a sunbed? He looks like he's been working in a licorice factory. Stape has got a nasty streak, but who didn't want Rosie to be told off, the little tart? Nice to see Chesney sticking up for his sister. Fiz used to be nearly as loud and objectionable as Janice, she's much more subdued these days, the John/Rosie business must have knocked the stuffing out of her. I hope she gets her spirit back and lets him have what's coming to him. Aunty Pam still isn't growing on me after her first appearances, and she reminds me vaguely of the long lost Nolan sister.

Same here with both. Don't miss either. Happened to catch the start of one the other day and saw it had a bloody title! I thought, what is this, Aussie soaps? Patsy

Emmerdale have started adding titles to their hour long episodes on Tuesdays.
I stopped watching Emmerdale too but went back.

Why? It's bloody stupid.
I haven't. Maybe one day I will but not for the foreseeable future. They need to get really good again before I do but I fear with all these eps and stupid characters/storylines it'll never happen.

No idea. I think its to make people take notice of the topic of the episode - e.g. the baby storyline which dominated both Tuesdays.
Corrie is bound to improve after the summer lull and with all those characters leaving like the boring bookies and Vernon. We also have the big murder storyline to look forward too.
Emmerdale has improved a lot in recent months - the new producer has made a promising start and at the moment im enjoying more episodes of that than I am of Corrie!

They probably don't care.
So how do you explain the winter lull when posters were saying it was boring?
Whodunnit's have been done to death ever since Dallas set the trend.

Well they probabaly think its worth a try for the big 1 hour specials on Tuesdays.
Well a lot of people might have said it was boring but thats just an opinion - I thought certain storylines were boring like Ryan/Michelle/Alex but that was because it went on far too long.

They're off their heads. Probably a trial to do it on the rest.
And they agreed about that and other things. Course it's just an opinion. That's what forums are for. ;D

Nah I think its just for the hour long episodes. The Bill do it too. Its daft they keep calling them hour long "specials" tho as its on for an hour every Tuesday unless there is football.

The Bill always did. Look at the 80s eps.
Agreed. With so many eps there's no 'specials' any more anyway.

Quite agree - apart from that terrible Dingle Pool Party.
Once Viv's gone, maybe they can start on clearing out the Dingles, then things really might start to improve!

Its not that it went on too long its just that it gets rammed down your throat.....The Alan/Rita story went on for nearly 3 years..but you had breaks away from it to give other characters a chance, whereas now when you get a storyline like the Michelle/Ryan/Alex stuff they bombard you with it and all the other characters get pushed into the background...I am all for storylines taking on a realistic timespan ..but they need to have other things going on too (look at the Alma and Mike things..their illnesses came on far too quickly)

They probably dont think we have sufficient of a memory span to leave a long enough gap. Therefore it is relentlessly shoved down our throats, in case we forget. !!

Nick, totally agree although the Alan/Rita thing in total went on almost four years but Alan was only really a bastard from 1988, but there were hints before that. It was also only twice a week up until October 1989 which was an enormous help so they didn't have to be in real time and the scenes were longer so things were developed. Now it's blink, blink, blink and goes round in circles so you get bored. No character or storyline development any more because there's far too many characters per ep and they focus on certain ones all the time.
I agree about the illnesses. I said they'd cop out of Mike's Alzheimer's because it couldn't be done properly. The mother of a friend of mine has it. It's been rapid. Three years ago she was absolutely fine. However Corrie STILL got it so wrong. They would send Mike away and when he was back would be worse. Then they claimed a mini stroke which was forgotten by the writers before giving him pneumonia and killing him off with a heart attack. The things my friend's mother has done really pushes her loved ones to the limit and they have no real time to themselves a lot of the time. I gave her the link to the Alzheimer's thread here and she agreed they made huge mistakes.
Sooty, I think it's them who have the short attention spans. They aim things at a certain age group but that a lot of that certain age group are into old stuff with looooooooooong scenes ad say it's better than TV today. LOL!

Is it me or has Bev Callard had some work done?..her eyes seem to slant upwards at the edges more than they did before she went away
John is driving me mad...just piss off and leave Fiz alone..likewise Harrys wife is too..just sod off and leave him alone..god they are irritating
I wonder if Mollys dad Diggory will be at the wedding..??

You mean you've only just noticed? She was probably the inspiration for Barbara. Bev's face has been as smooth as a drumskin for more than a year now but her neck gives her age away.

2 very good episodes. I could`ve smacked Daryl across the lughole for dissing my beloved ELO. 'Living Thing' was the first record I ever bought with my Boots record voucher. And the song came out in 1976 - not 1979 as the writers thought. I was 12 years old at the time so I should know. Never thought I`d say this - but was glad to see Liz back. I don`t know what she`s done to her hair, but I really liked it and it suits her. Wish she hadn`t worn that awful outfit though. I could`ve smacked Clarissa one for being hateful to Liz McD/Tomlin. Liz may be a slapper but she`s 'our' slapper' The best bits about tonight....no Miss Hell or Prawn....woohoooo A beautiful touch at the end I thought where Jack got all weepy and emotional. Bless him he really does miss his Vee
