As soon as I saw he was classed as NY I remembered he went over. So he must still be technically living over there to still have it rather than Manchester.

And apparantly the US soaps are in such a deplorable state here now. One soap has been cancelled (I bet it`s DL`s lol), and production costs have been so high that they`re firing actors left right and centre. I haven`t seen a decrease in episodes, but it`s only a matter of time I think.

Well they started the 5 day a week thing so have a LOT to answer for. LOL! I think it would be a bit embarrassing for them to reduce after 60+ years.
What did they class the likes of Dynasty, Dallas, Falcon Crest etc which were once a week and part of the year?

They were classed as dramas I believe Pats. And when Dynasty started their reruns it was shown in the daytime but wasn`t called a soap then - even though it was on the soap opera channel SoapNet

Thanks, Wend. It's strange how Granada always insisted Corrie wasn't a soap, but a drama serial, yet it's turned into a soap. LOL!

Soap is just another word for drama serial tho aint it - drama serial is the correct title, soap is just sort of a slang title. Thats why Bill Roache always says dont call them soaps but their correct title Drama Serial.

Not when it's on 5 times a week. Then it makes it like the American daytime drivel with it's bad scripts, crap acting and ludicrous plotlines.

It would be very fitting to have Tony Warren write the episode for Corries 50th Birthday wouldn`t it. I just checked my calender and December 9th, 2010 will be on a Thursday. (as well my 21st wedding anniversary)

Its good that it now falls on a Corrie day (Thursday)
I am wondering what they have planned - only just over a year to go - doesnt seem that long ago since the 40th.

I wasn`t even born when Corrie started for the first time. I`m not sure when HTV started showing it - a year or two after it started is my guess. I don`t think my region showed it from the beginning. So 2010 will have great anniversaries....Corries 50th, and EastEnders 25th. And Casualty will have their 25th anniversary in 2011 I think. Yep time is just whizzing by. I was still in school when Corrie had their 20th, yet I remember it so vividly.

Me neither. Southern went colour the day I was born so they must have known I was coming. LOL!
Yes and the live ep for EE (I still reckon it will be Mucus being found out). Wasn't there talk of a musical for Corrie's?

Remember last year when Corrie did a 2 or 3 minute show with prawn and me-me-mechelle superimposed on old black and white footage at the Rovers? I can`t remember if it was for Children In Need, Red Nose Day or a Corrie anniversary. But I would love to see something like that in a full hour episode with characters old and new all appearing together in scenes.
I heard about a Corrie musical, but haven`theard anything since Pats. If it`s true and is only half as good as the Oliver musical from CIN, then it would be brilliant.

Corrie is 20 years and 7 months older than me! lol
Im sure all regions showed it by the time it was 6 months old as they networked it Mon/Wed at 7.30pm - its traditional slots until they added the third iep on Fridays in 1989 (I remember that day well).
HTV didnt exist until 1968 so it would have been TWW for Wales/West.

I was born 9 years and 4 days after it started. The 3rd ep was Oct 1989 and continued from Alan being released on the Wed.

I was 16 when Corrie had their 20th.. And I remember as plain as day talking about the 20th anniversary to my friends in the 6th form common room and how much I was looking foward to watching the anniverary specials. We were listening to my Dexys Midnight Runners LP on the stereo, and one of my friends said - "you may have great taste in music but I can`t believe you watch Coronation Street" LOL
