lol very good - and very true. ;D It was brilliant to see Steve in scenes without Miss Hell. Don`t get me wrong I do like Miss Hell, but when she is shoved down our throats in every episode, it gets tedious.

I agree, CG - Miss Hell in every scene gets boring. Once Ryan has established a relationship with Nick, things will be a bit better - it's Alex getting his feet under the table again that will be the problem. Steve was a 'troublesome teen', so hopefully he will have some advice when the time comes - he's a proper grown-up now.
Chesney's nose seems to have grown a helluva lot recently, he used to be cute, now he looks like a ginger child catcher from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
Roy will suffer with Becky as a lodger - the smoking, the loud music, the bringing back of spare blokes. Poor Roy, even Lloyd and Kelly couldn't cope with Becky - Roy will be driven mad.
Leanne and Dan the Man is so boring - burn the bloody place down, who's going to notice?

Audrey's not daft - she knows David and Tina are lying.
It would be better to give Kirk a proper storyline rather than pack him off to Turkey, where he might decide he likes it and stay for ages. I'd rather see him in a good scene than any of the Connors rubbing each other up the wrong way.
Deirdre! Where's she been hiding? Please don't let her wear that scary top again!
The Rovers had plenty of warning about the smoking ban - they could have knocked up a smoker's corner (like lost of pubs) last year. Why introduce Vernon's stupid mates now to do a botch job?

I can't work out how people are going to get to this smoking area without going behind the bar and through into the hall ??

Why is Rita still selling Easter stuff? Her shop window is full of Easter related stuff.

That's her lazy peasant's job so don't blame Reet. She's had more pressing matrimonial matters on her mind and being left Jack's cash after seeing him off is more important than walloping Norris. Patsy

This was mentioned, and I think the problem is being overcome by the 'knocking through' they were discussing. What I can't understand is how little fuss Steve was making - it's his pub after all.

Knocking through to where though??

The Rovers has a bizarre structure - when people go to the toilets, it looks like they're walking into the Barlow's living room. If the builders knock down the wall next to the toilets it should lead to the Rovers back yard. Or the Barlow's kitchen.

That was my thinking too Pearly. Perhaps we should get Deirdre to bring back a copy of the original plans from the planning office, and we can have a good look? ;D

It must be the wall where the dart board used to be pre Rovers Fire they are knocking through surely? Otherwise they would have to knock through where the bar area is!

Didn't there used to be a functions room in the Rovers. ?

yes there used to be three bars..the Public, the Snug and the Select (which was the function room with a stage) which if things were real would have reached across Rosamund Street and in to the chippy (well it would if that chippy and viaduct had been there then)..when they had the fire in 1986 they decided to get rid of the select so that the inside plan of the bar fitted the outside of the pub better..but the living room and kitchen area still don't and they would,if it was real,go out into Rosamund Street...
The ladies and gents toilets used to go 'straight into' Albert Tatlocks house (number 1) it wasn't till they built the new full sized set in 1982 that they put an alleyway between the Rovers and Number 1 with a gate at the end so that the toilets were supposedly built into the alley
from 1960-1968 the street was a set inside the studio..then in 1968 they built an outdoor set,but the houses were just frontages and a third of the actual size (when we walked onto the new set in 1982,which I mentioned in another thread, you could still see the old set through a hole in some gates,it had started to be dismantled, but the houses were still up,but looking tatty and the factory had gone)

I'd never even noticed that there was an alley there! but if you look at my pics in the Seeing The Set thread it's quite clearly visible. Logically the alley should give access to the Rover's yard/and or the Barlows yard - but access must be blocked somehow by the pub toilets.

Well even though they put an alleyway in between the Rovers and Number 1 there would never be enough room for the toilets to fit in - they would have to be extremely small toilets! ;D
Nick, where abouts in relation to the new set was the old one (the one taken away in 1982?). I was led to believe it was the otherside of the huge warehouse building behind the current health centre? But in which direction was it facing?

If I remember right.(I have looked at a map) it was built at the set of viaducts that cross Water Street to the south west of Quay Street..just before the viaduct there is a road called Liverpool Road that goes to the east..the old set was in a yard there behind high walls and gates with the house frontages next to the real viaduct go to www.uk.map24.com and type in Quay Street,Manchester and you will see the area

Thanks Nick. I am quite familiar with the area around there due to my many visits. i just wondered exactly where the set was. Was it the same site as the Granada Studios Tours "New York" set was on in the late 80s/1990s? Or the other side of the wall?

Looking at Corrie.net they have a picture of the 1968-1982 set. www.corrie.net/profiles/places/set2a.htmlNotice there is nothing where the medical centre should be! Still trying to work out exactly where it was!

They always used to film the street from the Rovers end...you never saw the other end of the street
we were stood by those gates at the far end of the picture..the houses were only a third of there full size and looked tiny....looking at the pic as it is..at the gates go left and that small road joins a threeway junction with Liverpool Road and Water street..it was in that area somewhere...built against a real set of viaducts along that elevated railtrack you can see on the map south of Quay Street and the Granada Studios
I never went on the Granada tours so I don't know where it would be in relation to that

It was the Graffti Club from 1983 until sometime in the 1980s yes. During the Granada tours it was a shop whilst sold loads of Corrie things. I thought I was in heaven in that shop! LOL!
Nick, I noticed that on old eps. We never saw the Graffiti Club end of the street pre 1982.
I am in the right area but still not sure of the exact spot.

Tonights episodes were really good IMO- the fire and the aftermath were very well done, Jane Danson was excellent throughout and it was nice to see Amber having a bigger part in the show.
Also some great scenes from Becky and Roy again - quite disappointed they didnt show them playing scrabble together!
